Hello everyone it has been a while since I wrote my blog but life has not be normal lately has it.
We are still here in our workshop and small shop in Llangollen. We have coped very well with the challenges this small business has through at us but we have been positive. Our shop is ready and I have decided that we will not have the shop open to callers but we will be running an appointment based system. Therefore if you wish to come to the shop you will be most welcome, just phone, message, Facebook or Instagram and I will arrange a convenient time. All I ask is that if you can bring a mask with you especially while we still have 2m social distancing.
At I first I had no motivation to sew and I lost my Sewjo for a while but I have been busy sewing, initially I was making uniform washbags for the healthcare staff and then I moved on to making face coverings. But at long last my real sewjo is back and I have been working on some lovely quilts.
One project is working with Harriet Gibson from South Wales who has started he small business called Cwilt Designs. She designs patterns and makes one of a kind commission pieces. I have tested her latest pattern called Cwilt Diemwnt which she plans to launch at the beginning of July.
I am at present quilting one of the bumbleberries quilts that I pieced before lockdown. We are also working in an email list and social media advertising. Don’t forget if you are a member of the Quilters Guild you can get a 10% discounts if you produce your membership card.
Hi all I just thought it was time to put something up here first to explain our position and secondly to try and keep moral up among everyone.
Firstly at the moment we should have been sunning ourselves in the sun of Gran Canaria but we were turned away from the airport on Saturday. A good part of me was pleased that the airline had cancelled the flights but the other smaller side of me wishes that we could have got the sun and rest we really needed as we have been working very hard on building this new business.
Secondly we had planned to launch are very small, but perfectly formed, shop when returned from holiday but of course this will be deferred until it is safe to do so. BUT we plan to have a bit of a party launch when we can and YOU ARE ALL INVITED!!!!!. We do have our website and orders can be made and posted, collected and if local to Llangollen we can at the moment deliver. I am going to be using this time to really perfect my quilting on my Q’nique 15R on my new 10foot continuum frame. My plan was and still is to hire this out for quilters to do their own quilting so that you can say ‘I did all of this quilt myself’.
I am also planning to work on getting some great workshops together ready for when we are able to opening our door. I am hopeful I will be able to continue working in my workshop so if you need and supplies order on the website, email or ring me. MOST IMPORTANT IS TO LOOK AFTER YOURSELVES AND YOUR FAMILIES. ISOLATION AT HOME AND STRICT SOCIAL DISTANCING IS THE ONLY WAY WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS.
It is a long time since I wrote on the website. We have been so busy trying to get everything together. We have a number of plans in the pipeline which we will tell you about very soon – keep checking the website.

Hello everyone this is my first foray into blog writing so I hope that you will bear with me. I am Carie and I have started this business with my husband, Derek. I am a quilter and a teacher of quilting and we are based in North Wales, UK. We decided to start this business as we felt that there was a gap in the local market for a quilt business especially with our USP of bright colours and bold quilts, we also cater for other quilters and crafters.
We are based in The Malthouse, Regent Street, Llangollen and at the present time we are operating an online business, as you we know as this is published on our website. We hope in the future we may be able to extend into premises that will allow us the room to have a permanent shop but at the moment we are having Pop Up Shops here at the Malthouse on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. This Saturday 5th October is our very first event and we are very excited. Pop along and see us as we will always have complimentary tea/coffee and cake/biscuits for everyone.
My workshop will also be open so if you want to have a look around, get some tips on a project you are doing or one you would like to try them I am more than happy to help. We could also discuss any classes or workshops that you would like to take part in. If you have never done patchwork and/or quilting and have always wanted to try then come along for a chat
